Chris Brown Transform Ya

This video is hot! I like to see my favorite artists dressed in high fashion and look so good. & I'm glad to see Chris Brown making a comeback! Did you peep his shades? These glasses are by Dior Homme not everyone can pull these off  but if you have the right steez, and lots of confidence you can make them look just as good as Chris. I know that Kanye West owns a pair in orange and I’m definitely not surprised! I just hope they don’t get too popular and become duplicated. I would hate to see these being sold at every street vendor like Kanye's infamous shutter shades. = /

Celeb Trend: Minx Nails

I am a nail art fanatic so I had been doing constant research after I started noticing a few of my favorite celebs rocking funky designs and colors on their nails. That's when I came across Minx Nails! Minx Nails has quickly become the new addictive fashion craze in Hollywood. Stylistas like Mariah Carey, Angela Simmons, Solange, and Beyonce all have sported hot nail designs from Minx.

Minx nails is like a fashion's diva dream come true! Have you ever ruined a fresh mani because you were not patient enough to sit in the salon for your nails to completly dry? Well with Minx Nails you don't need to worry about that. The great thing about this product is that its not nail polish so it won’t chip or peel off. It actually comes in foil and is made of film, so you can have anything customized on your nails. Some ideas I have for when I get my Minx nails are a funky cheetah pattern, a photo of my favorite runway models on each nail, or maybe a thunderbolt design.
What are some of your Minx nails ideas?

Style Session: Angela Simmons

Angela Simmons is one of my favorites when it comes to celeb style! What's great about Angela is her  unique sense of style. She's always up on the latest trends and seems to have fun mixing and matching. She turns up her laid-back looks with a nice designer purse or cool designer shades.
If you like Angela's style your probably the girl who follows fashion but you don't take it too seriously. It's easy for you to mix your clothes that are girly and flirty with hard punk-rock pieces. You have a love for sophisticated high-end labels but you also shop for affordable brands.

So here's how you can get Angela's look:

Forever 21 Floral Skirt

Doc Martens Black 1460 Combat Boots

Lipsy London Frill Hem Biker Jacket

Marc Jacobs Quilted Leather Shoulder Bag

Stylish Candids: Chanel Iman

Chanel strolls in her thigh-high boots so well!

Marc by Marc Jacobs S/S 2010

All the pieces were very exciting! I loved all the poufy skirts, polka dots and clashing patterns. Even the menswear was fun with the eye-catching cardigans and rolled to the ankle denim jeans. I loved this collection!

French Vogue Does Black Face

The October issue of French Vogue, which is on newsstands now, has struck uproar with a controversial editorial spread that features Dutch model, Lara Stone.

The idea of stiring up controversy is not anything new for the fashion industry or French Vogue but this issue is defeniteley offensive to me. So why would seeing Lara Stone painted head-to-toe in dark brown makeup upset me? Well here's a little bit of history on "Black Face"...

Blackface dates back to the 19th-century and was a style of theatrical makeup that originated in the US. Minstrelsy. It was used to portray the stereotypes that Americans had of black people for ex: being the buffoon and the butt of every joke. The blackface was used to take on the appearance of the "happy-go-lucky darky on the plantation" or the "dandified coon ".

& this is why the editorial upset me greatly.

Stylistas Think Alike: Christian Louboutin Miss Leopard Booties

Shame on You Ralph Lauren!

Ok so according to fashion label Ralph Lauren being five-foot-eight and 120-pound is FAT! I found this out after watching a segment on the news with model Filippa Hamilton-Palmstierna. She explained why she was asked to say goodbye to Ralph Lauren after four successful years modeling for the label. Unlike models who get too old for the job, Hamilton-Palmstierna’s contract ran out because “of her inability to meet the obligations under her contract with [Ralph Lauren].”
The images above are what led Filippa down the path to unemployment.  Her perfectly proportional body was obessively photoshopped because she was not skinny enough for Ralph Lauren's standards.

I think that Filippa has every right to be outraged by Ralph Lauren's decision and those photos are awful...just straight up grotesque! I thought this was so ironic because a few months back I had made a post about how happy I was to see Ralph Lauren using diverse models for their ad campaigns. After seeing these images it seems like they went downhill since then. = (

Erin Wasson X RVCA Inside-Out Sweat Pants

I idolize model Erin Wasson and I adore her line for RVCA but I think she has lost her mind charging $160 for a pair of sweats! This is just ridiculous to me! There is no way that a pair of splatter paint, inside-out fleece pants is completely a profound design worth that much. I do think they look pretty cool but these are NOT worth more than $10 bucks. I'd much rather spend some time to make a D.I.Y. pair.

One Year & Counting...

Wow I still can't believe that this month makes it one whole year that I started this blog Memoirs of Style! I remember sitting in my room pondering about having my own blog. I wanted my blog to be a little bit of everything and because of this I kept struggling with the whole purpose of the blog. Then finally I thought who cares about the purpose! I decided that I would just write and post pictures of random things that caught my interest from my perspective as a young fashion enthusiast.

&&& now after a year if someone were to ask me today,Why do you blog? or What is the purpose of your blog? I would have a sure and definite answer. = )

I love fashion & style...always have and I always will. &&& As a young woman trying to find out what it is exactly that I want to do in the fashion industry it seems almost essential for me to blog. By having a blog it forces me to keep myself up to date with designer collections, current trends, editorials and news from in the fashion world. etc. & everytime that I make a post I feel more connected & closer to my dream of working in the industry.

There are many times I thought about ending this blog. &&& that's because I have made many objections...the biggest one being not having enough time to post. But then I would check my emails & get words of encouragement from my readers & friends. Words like 'I love your blog' & 'keep up the good posts'. I honestly didn't think anyone even cared about what I had to say! I would just like to take the time to give Thanks to all the readers.

xoxo. Love. Peace. Fashion!

Alexander McQueen Cloned

Alexander McQueen "Pelle" Booties
A few posts back I featured these gorge glamrock shoes by Alexander McQueen. Ever since then I have found two clones of them. If you ask me they are pretty close to the orginals. What do you think?

I saw these on a recent trip to Steve Madden in SoHo & I went OMG those look just like the Alexander McQueen Pelle Booties! &&& Steve Madden has already been hit with a lawsuit for these knockoffs.
Man I should have bought them when I first laid eyes on them because I checked the site and they are no longer available!

There are also these clones from GoJane. Not as fab as the McQueens nor are they copied as perfect as the Steve Madden's but I still like them.

*P.S. I don't think it's ok for labels to copy designs. I just have fun finding designer inspired pieces. It's unfortunate that some labels don't take much time or effort to change designs to fit the aesthic of their company.  Copying with the intent to trade on the popularity of the design and commercial strength of another brand is not a good thing = (

Forever 21 Times Sqaure
